Students of Structural Engineering, IIT Madras visited TPRS Enterprises.

  • B.Tech students, scholars, and Ph.D. students from the structural engineering department visited TPRS Enterprises Pvt Ltd, Puducherry on 19.09.2015 to understand the architectural glass processing.

Seminar on Design and Challenges in Glass façade in Building

  • Glazing Society of India and the Structural Glass Research and Testing (SGRT) Facility, Department of Civil Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (IIT-M) have successfully organized a one-day seminar on Design and challenges in glass facade in buildings; Sustainability in Safety and Energy Performance on Thursday, the 29th of September 2016 at IIT Madras, Chennai.
  • The presentation sessions were followed by a visit to the Structural Glass Research and Testing (SGRT) Facility, where the various testing to be done on different types of processed glass were demonstrated. About 50-plus professionals including architects, builders, consultants, etc attended the seminar.

Fensterbau Frontale.

  • SGRT team and GSI team participated in the Fensterbau Frontale 2016 from 25.02.2016 to 27.02.2016.

One Day National Workshop on National Building Code of India 2016: Glass and Glazing Aspects- Mumbai.

  • Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Glazing Society of India (GSI), and IIT Madras successfully conducted a one-day workshop on 'National Building Code 2016: Glass and Glazing Aspects' on Friday, the 3rd August 2018 at, LS Raheja School of Architecture. The Workshop was supported by the Federation of Safety Glass, All India Glass Manufacturers Federation, Confederation of Construction Products & Services, International Fenestration Forum, Glass Academy, uPVC Windows, and Doors Manufacturers Association, and LS Raheja School of Architecture.
  • The objective of this workshop was to educate the entire construction value chain on the codes and provisions given in NBC 2016 on the use of glass and glazing systems in Indian Buildings and thereby enabling the implementation of the same. As part of this workshop, a theme paper was given to the participants which provides detailed inputs to the professionals in the construction value chain to understand the design considerations, types, and testing of glass and glazing systems used in Indian buildings as per the National Building Code 2016 and other relevant Indian codes and Standards.

Women Exclusive Skill Development Workshop on Energy Efficiency and Quality Testing of Architectural Glass & Glazing Systems.

  • Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras, Glazing Society of India (GSI), and International Finance Corporation (IFC) (part of World Bank) has successfully organized the first of its kind two day Women Exclusive Skill development program on Energy Efficiency and Quality Testing of Architectural Glass & Glazing Systems at IIT Madras in Chennai on 12th and 13th June 2018. This exclusive workshop provided a technical plaƞorm for women to familiarize, enhance, and gain further knowledge in the energy efficiency and quality aspects of glass and glazing in buildings and thereby support them for a sustainable and high-level career in the glass and glazing industry.

First Webinar on National Building Code 2016.

  • After the successful completion of four National Workshops in New Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, and Chennai, “The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Glazing Society of India (GSI), and Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras organized the first webinar on National Building Code 2016: Glass and Glazing Aspects on 24th June 2020. The webinar was supported by AIGMF (All India Glass Manufacturers Federation), CCPS (Confederation of Construction Products & Services), FOSG (Federation of Safety Glass), UWDMA (uPVC Windows and Doors Manufacturers Association), and Glass Academy.
  • The webinar was attended by over 780 participants comprising Architects, Civil Engineers, Builders, Developers, Consultants, Contractors, Glass Processors, Manufacturers, Govt Officials, Academia, and other professionals.

First Webinar on Indian Standards for Glass: Architectural and General.

  • Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Glazing Society of India (GSI), CSIR – Centre for Glass and Ceramic Research Institute (CGCRI), and Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IITM) are jointly organizing the First Webinar on Indian Standards for Glass: Architectural and General Purposes on Friday, the 9th October 2020 from 10.30 – 13.30 Hrs.
  • The First Webinar covered the Indian Standards for Float Glass, Heat Strengthened Glass, Toughened Glass, Laminated Glass, and Insulated Glazing Units used for Architectural and other general purposes. The audience for the webinar included Float Manufacturers, Glass Processors, Fabricators, Builders, Government, Professionals, and others.

Visit to Winwall Testing Facility by GSI and SGRT team.

  • Glazing Society of India (GSI) and SGRT Team visited Winwall’s testing facility, Gummudipoondi, Chennai on 4th May 2022 for technical knowledge on the testing of building façades, doors, windows, and handrails. Cyclic testing of hardware, fire, and glass testing.

Installation of the new mirror test setup.

  • To test the structural stability of the mirrors, the Pendulum test (Impact test) has been installed in the SGRT facility.

GSI and SGRT took part in the ZAK Expo.

  • SGRT with the Glazing Society of India (GSI) participated in the ZAK Glass Technology Expo held from 1st to 3rd December 2022 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.

SGRT participated in Structural Engineering Laboratory Symposium, IIT Madras.

  • Structural Glass Research and Testing (SGRT) Facility participated in the two- day symposium “Structural Engineering: The Way Forward” conducted by the Department of Civil Engineering, I.I.T. Madras on the 9th and 10th of February 2023. SGRT played a major role in elaborating the effective application of glass in buildings and their structural testings done in SGRT for academia and industries.

Winwall’s Testing Facility Visit.

  • On 11.08.2023 SGRT and GSI team visited Winwall’s testing facility, Gummudipoondi, Chennai with BIS officials.

ZAK Glass Technology Expo.

  • SGRT with the Glazing Society of India (GSI) participated in the ZAK Glass Technology Expo held from 23rd - 26th November 2023 at Bombay Exhibition Centre (NESCO), Mumbai, India.
